Letting go. Why leaders must do this.
I am going to make this one short and sweet.
As a leader of a company. department, division etc., there most likely will come a time when you need help (people) to grow the company or area you are responsible for. The next logical step is you hire or promote someone to fill that role. Congratulations on seeking help.
Now, here is the challenge I often encounter with leaders. They make the hire; however, still have the attitude of “even though I hired you, I still know more than you”. In my experience this a very poor philosophy to have. If you have taken the time to vet and hire the right person for the role, then get out of their way and let them shine. Give them the budget, tools and resources to achieve excellence and assume the role of mentor in their life.
You, the person you hired and the brand will be so much better if you do this.
